My husband and I are coming to St. Thomas for a visit and I was just wondering if anyone out there had some pointers on good restaurants that don't cost too much and also some stuff to do while we are there. I hope that it doesn't rain or anything while we are in St. Thomas, because that will cause our vacation to really suck.
If you want to do something off the beaten path and have a cool little beach to yourself, check out "Mermaid's Chair." It's a part of Botany Bay preserve. It's where the Atlantic and the Caribbean Sea meet seperated by a small strip of beach. It's amazing.
While I was on the island I had a great time at the "Pie Whole" in Frenchtown. They serve brick oven pizza and have a wide selection of Belgian Beer. The owner is great too...very friendly. After that check out "Betsy's" bar down the street.
If you are in Red Hook I'd recommend "Island Time" for cheap food and drinks. Across the street is the Love Shack if you want to do the tourist Caribbean drink thing. Drive up the road to Coki Beach for some good snorkeling and diving.
Try the ferry to St. John for a day. I think this is where the beauty lies.
There is not a lot of inexpensive places to eat on the island...so I will just give you our 3 favorites from the visit we just returned from....Fungi in the Point Pleasant area...Delly Deck, in the Havensight area....and our ultimate favorite, Sib's....not sure how to give directions there...but the cook, Aaron, is amazing, and so is the service...ask around, everyone knows where it is...
The St. Thomas Message Boards are set up to spread the good word of St. Thomas. Unlike many other message boards that prohibit any type of self promotion we encourage it. We want our locals to be able to say they own a business and to give them a try. We also want to help visitors with good, honest opinions. So feel free to start a discussion related to St. Thomas.
