Hello, I am considering moving to St. Thomas in the near future as I visited the island 2 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Before I make such a decision, I am curious about a few things. Some of which I don't think can be answered even with a pre-move visit. I read that bartending jobs are abundant, but do you know if you need a license or can you learn on the job? Bartending is intended to be an entry point into the country as I am an entrepreneur. How is the environment for starting your own business? Legal, government, financing, opportunities, etc. Finally, I am 33 and single. I am still looking for the special someone. Do you have insights into the dating/single scene? Thanks for your feedback!

You do not need a "license" but you'll need to get a healthcard for any restaurant job you take, it's really easy to get. Singles complain regularly about the dating life here but we see people getting together all the time. Starting your own business can be a pain in the ass. I would recommend you hire an "expediter" to handle the government crap otherwise you may just shoot yourself in the head.
