My Mama told Me ‘You Better Shop Around’

While we’re on the subject of local living (were we? we are now…) let’s talk about shopping. We’ve posted about it a couple times, but it’s a favorite subject of mine and I have a cool new site for you shoppers to check out.

Here are the facts: you’re on an island…where many of your favorite stores don’t exist. Not only that, but items you might need or want might not always be in stock on the Rock! Island Time is relaxed time, and everyone likes taking things slow until you find yourself trying to search for something on a not-so-fast internet connection…too frustrating. This cool site will make that process a lot easier; plug in the item you’re searching for and it sucks in information from everywhere on the internet – easy! Plus it’s a nice clean site with a cool name you’ll remember, ShopWiki.

We had friends visit last year with their toddler daughter. Scott and I don’t have a car seat but I figured I’d check out Kmart and maybe pick up a cheap one to have on hand for situations like this one. Unfortunately when I went to the store their selection wasn’t that big, and all the seats were more than I wanted to spend for something we would hardly use. This is an example of where online shopping comes in handy! Plug in car seat on ShopWiki and you find a ton of options right at your fingertips, including any available deals and sales that may be running at different online stores.

Scott and I are big fans of Reef flip flops, and while you can find them on the island there are better prices to be had online, especially when you’re buying two or three pairs at once. I had a big online search going one day and literally had four internet windows open to four different shoe sites as I tried to compare prices. Today I plugged in Reef flip flops into ShopWiki and here are my results; every Reef option on the internet all on one page, perfect! if you check out the results you’ll see how easy it is to choose your price options and color - another cool detail is when you roll your mouse over the selections it gives you further pop up windows with even more info, which is better than having to click and wait for yet another page to load. *Knock Knock* “Who’s there?” “Convenient shopping!”

Clearly I am a fan of this site! If you’ll excuse me I have some ‘window shopping’ to do…
