Private Schools Of St. Thomas

Nicci and I know almost nothing about the private schools of St. Thomas and how they compare to one another. Please help out the people looking to move to St. Thomas by commenting on what you know or the experiences you’ve had with any of our private schools.

Storms On The Horizon

We have 2 potential storms to keep an eye on. #1, red circle, is Gaston that reared his ugly head, then fizzled out and may be back for a second run. #3, circle in yellow,  is a massive potential storm just forming.

Power Out For 6 Days? Water and Power Authority Takes The Weekend Off…

Priceless…

Is it my understanding that WAPA will be taking Sunday (holy day) and Monday (Labor day) off? Can someone confirm this?

Is it also true that power on St. Thomas has not been restored everywhere yet? That consumers are still without power some 6 days after the storm?

Please, someone, anyone tell me this isn’t true?

St. Thomas To Get Superfast Fiber Optic Broadband Network

What? What’s next, running water to our houses?

But yes, 59 million from President Obama’s stimulus package is making  it’s way to St. Thomas so we can have super-fast broadband :) Nothing, I repeat, nothing makes me happier than super-fast broadband. I’m actually grinning from ear to ear right now.

Here’s a map of where it’s gonna go (click to enlarge):

Read all the superfast details here.

Southland Gaming of the Virgin Islands’ Community Award Program Awards Another $1,000

Southland Gaming of the Virgin Islands has announced that Scott Bradley of My Brother’s Workshop is the second recipient of a $1,000 Community Award.  The award was announced on September 3.

Mr. Bradley is the co-founder and driving force behind the non-profit organization, My Brother’s Workshop, established in 2008 to provide paid training in basic building skills to economically disadvantaged youth.  In space donated by the St. Thomas Reformed Church, Mr. Bradley teaches construction skills to young men aged 16 to 24.  Since the program began, over 48 young men have participated in training and over 80 percent have either gained employment or re-enrolled in school.  In nominating Mr. Bradley for the Community Award, Tim Abraham stated, “Scott has saved lives in U.S.V.I.  Specifically, he has turned the lives around for dozens of young men to help them be a positive part of the community.”

Congratulations to Scott Bradley, second recipient of Southland Gaming of the Virgin Islands’ Community Award Program of $1,000!

Ah Geez – Not Able To Confirm Curfew Tonight

It’s becoming increasingly difficult to get an answer on if there will be a curfew tonight. If I’m able to confirm I will re-post but as far as I know there is no curfew tonight. If anyone hears anything different comment in.

St. Thomas Roads Much Better

Just drove around the north side to Havensight and the roads are looking way better today. Kudos to all those that cleaned up! There were still some streetlights out around Crown Bay but for the most part things were looking more normal. I heard the East End got power back but we’re still running on generator at the house.

If you got power back comment in with your location.
