SunFone Shines
I’ve been running a test of the new VOIP phone called SunFone. I wrote an introductory article on it over a month ago.
As I mentioned you’ll need some sort of broadband Internet connection to be able to use it but for residential use the benefits are awesome:
Okay so here are my results:
1. Clarity: Honestly it’s cleaner than my Innovative line which hums all the time on long distance calls.
2. Reliability: It worked all the time as long as my Internet didn’t go down. So if your Internet goes down a lot it could be a problem otherwise it will work like a charm.
3. Cost: it’s only $24.99 a month with a 1 time install fee of just $99. And that includes unlimited calling to the states. Not sure anyone can beat that?
4. Ease of Use: Once it’s set up you’re done, eazy peazy.
5. Small Business Application: If you work from home as I do and have a credit card machine it will not work. I’m told they are working on this issue and will have it resolved. Unfortunately I run a lot of credit card business through my machine (which plugs into my land-line) so this was an issue. Of course you could work with PayPal and other types of vendors if you want the VOIP phone. And none of this applies if you’re just using it as a residential phone.
6. Service: Very good but we’re comparing it to Innovative so it’s a little unfair. A dead corpse provides better service
Overall we strongly recommend the Residential Service as long as you have a continuous broadband connection.

For the record during the testing process I was not charged for any services
